2008 Special Events

The following events were funded by Founding Members under aegis of Faith: An Endowment for Orthodoxy and Hellenism.

Greek Arts & LettersJanuary 28, 2008, New York

“Celebration of Greek Arts and Letters” program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  This program was hosted by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios on January 28, 2008 – the Feast of the Three Hierarchs and consisted of a series of exciting cultural events including a lecture, “Manuscripts from Byzantium as Links to the World of Greek Classical Literature” by Professor Gregory Nagy, Director of Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies, Washington, DC and Francis Jones Professor of Classical Greek Literature and Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University.   A viewing of the Museum’s Greek, Byzantine, and Roman Galleries and a musical performance by The Metropolitan Youth Choir of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese preceded the lecture.

The JourneyMarch 31, 2008, Chicago

The screening of Maria Iliou’s documentary film, The Journey: The Greek American Dream, at the Art Institute of Chicago. There was a special evening program hosted by Mr. John P. Calamos on behalf of Faith and co-presented by Greek America Magazine and Proteas Foundation.
